Australia's Woodside Energy said on Thursday CEO Meg O'Neill will be leaving the firm effective immediately to join BP as its CEO.
Meg O'Neill leaves Australia's biggest independent energy firm after a stint of more than four years at the helm.
Her exit comes in the middle of Woodside's expansion strategy into North America, betting on a pro-fossil-fuel US administration and growing global demand for gas, especially through its Louisiana liquefied natural gas plant.
The Australian energy giant said it has appointed insider Liz Westcott as acting CEO, while intending to announce a permanent appointment in the first quarter of 2026.
