Bunker Hill Mining ships first concentrate to Teck's Trail smelter
US-based Bunker Hill Mining Corp has shipped the first concentrate from its Bunker Hill zinc/lead/silver mine, in Idaho, in the US, to Teck Resources' Trail smelter, in British Columbia, in Canada.
“With the successful commissioning of our new 1800 t a day processing plant, the Bunker Hill team is proud to have begun generating revenue from the sale of concentrate for the first time since the Bunker Hill Mine ceased operations more than 45 years ago.
"This represents a defining milestone in the company's redevelopment and validates the dedication of our team in safely bringing one of America's most historic mining operations back into production. While we continue to optimise plant performance through commissioning, we remain focused on achieving full commercial production by year-end," says Bunker Hill president and CEO Sam Ash.
The company says the start of concentrate production at the mine is a significant step in the restart of the operation after more than four decades of closure and rehabilitation.
Concentrate produced at Bunker Hill is analysed by Silver Valley Analytical before being transported about 220 km to Teck's Trail integrated lead and zinc smelting complex, where it is processed under Bunker Hill's offtake arrangements.
