First Majestic reports lowest carbon intensive year yet
30 April 20265 Mins read

NYSE- and TSX-listed First Majestic Silver Corporation has achieved its lowest carbon intensity on record, with its carbon footprint per tonne of ore processed having reduced by 21% year-on-year in 2025.

Additionally, the group reports an overall reduction in carbon intensity per tonne of ore processed of 49% in its latest sustainability report, compared with its first report that came out in 2019.

First Majestic further says its spend on local communities amounted to $2.4-million last year, with the group having completed a third-party community social impact assessment at all its operating sites to proactively monitor community needs and expectations.

The company has silver and gold mines and projects in Mexico and the US, including four underground mines in Mexico, and a minting facility called First Mint.

In addition to a world-class safety performance of a total recordable incident frequency rate of 0.55 and a lost incident frequency rate of 0.12, First Majestic also retained 70% of its employees over a six-year period.

By the end of 2025, First Majestic ranked in the top 10% of mining companies globally in respect of sustainability and environment, social and governance (ESG) principles as ranked by ISS ESGl and in the top 15% of mining companies listed on the LSE.

The group also ranks in the top 25% of S&P Global’s monitored companies and in the top 34% of those measured by Sustainalytics.

Overall, First Majestic met all its sustainability targets and commitments set in 2025. CEO Keith Neumeyer says in a year marked by record production, financial performance and the successful integration of the newly acquired Los Gatos operation, the company demonstrated that strong performance and responsible mining go hand-in-hand.
