Gold mining stalwart Woodyer inducted to Canadian Mining Hall of Fame
Canadian gold mining company Aris Mining Corporation founder, chairperson and CEO Neil Woodyer has been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame. The formal ceremony will be held on January 14 next year.
His career spans more than five decades in metals and mining, having started as a metals trader in London in the 1970s.
In 1988, he founded Endeavour Financial in Vancouver, which grew into a leading mining merchant banking and advisory firm, raising billions of dollars of capital for mining companies including Silver Wheaton, now Wheaton Precious Metals.
By 2009, Woodyer founded Endeavour Mining which grew into a leading West African gold producer. He went on to lead Leagold Mining in 2016 which assembled a portfolio of gold mines in Mexico and in Brazil before merging with Equinox Gold in 2020.
Woodyer subsequently built Aris Gold and led its merger with GCM Mining to create Aris Mining by 2022.
Aris Mining operates the Segovia and Marmato underground gold mines in Colombia, which together produced about 257 000 oz of gold in 2025. The company expects to increase its yearly gold production to 500000 oz following expansion projects, while a prefeasibility study is due on a new project called Toroparu in Guyana.
