Minrex discovers unexpected high-grade gold from Tlamino project's Barje deposit
ASX-listed Minrex Resources has reported the best results yet from drilling on the Barje deposit as part of the Tlamino gold/silver project in southern Serbia, near the border with North Macedonia.
Assay results from nine recent diamond drill holes confirmed the widest and highest-grade mineralisation on the project, at shallow depth and squarely in the centre of the system, with one drill hole having returned 36 m of gold-equivalent grading 5.85 g/t.
CEO Max Piirto says the company initially expected to find a low-grade gap between Barje's two high-grade zones, instead drilling confirmed a single connected high-grade body rather than two separate zones.
Piirto says the drilling confirmed thick intercepts with genuine high-grade internal cores rather than narrow spikes.
Minrex is evaluating an expansion of the diamond drill programme with additional holes aimed at growing and better defining the high-grade breccia through the central zone. Any material added here will be incorporated into the company's maiden mineral resource estimate on Tlamino, which is expected in the fourth quarter.
