NioBay successfully produces high-purity niobium, tantalum oxides in Crevier testwork
TSX-V-listed NioBay Metals has achieved high purity levels of nobium oxide and tantalum oxide as it works to develop a process for ore produced from its 80%-owned Crevier project, in Québec.
The company's analytic results demonstrate nobium oxide grading 99.6% and tantalum oxide grading 99.98%, which confirms the effectiveness of NioBay's purification process.
The purification phase of the testwork was performed at the facilities of SGS Canada, in Québec, while the hydrometallurgical phase of the work - including leaching, precipitation tests and calcination - was carried out at the SGS facilities in Ontario.
"These purification results are very positive for NioBay. With this milestone, we have met the specifications of some of our potential customers. The Crevier project could be dedicated exclusively to the production of nobium oxide for battery and superalloy manufacturers, depending on studies demonstrating positive technical and economic parameters," says NioBay president and CEO Jean-Sébastien David.
