Sunshine Metals refurbishing of Mt Moss on track for commissioning mid-2027
ASX-listed Sunshine Metals says refurbishing at the Mt Moss processing facility, in Queensland, is progressing to plan, with construction targeted to start in October or November, toward commissioning in mid-2027.
The former magnetite and base metals plant is being transformed into a dedicated gold processing facility by adding carbon-in-leach equipment, elution and refining components.
Sunshine acquired the 300000 t/y plant for $18-million in July to underpin the company's planned transition to gold production from the Liontown project in 2027.
"Detech Engineering and the Sunshine team have now completed design works and started procurement of long-lead items. The teams have also overseen the safe decommissioning of unrelated plant equipment after assessing what is usable infrastructure on site," confirms Sunshine MD Dr Damien Keys.
The company aims to finalise tenders for steel fabrication, fine ore bin fabrication and various structural steel works early in October. Tenders will also be sought for fuel, cyanide and mill consumables.
Refurbishment of existing structural elements such as feed hoppers, conveyors and miscellaneous structural beams will be completed by November.
