We’re revisiting copper plays in our portfolio/universe currently, given the red metal’s recent record prices…and here, we couldn’t come up with a more game-changing story if we tried!
As I discuss here with Gunnison’s C.F.O. and Senior V.P. Craig Hallworth, Gunnison announced in December some of the biggest news in the U.S. Mining industry in YEARS: And that was the first U.S. production of copper EVER using the new Nuton technology developed by partner Rio Tinto at Gunnison’s Johnson Camp Mine in Arizona.
This removes the need for traditional smelting; and is now the first modern example of raw copper-containing ores being mined, processed and turned into FINISHED COPPER all within the U.S. of A.!
This is but one reason we see Gunnison’s shares as absurdly undervalued.
Elsewhere, the company will shortly be putting out an updated Preliminary Economic Assessment on its flagship and much larger Gunnison Copper Project; that as well is an exciting story about how, in total, the company before long could be kicking out nearly a quarter of a billion pounds of copper annually!
