Equinox gets green light to start building South Railroad mine in Nevada

TSX- and NYSE-listed Equinox Gold has received a positive record of decision (RoD) from the US Bureau of Land Management for the South Railroad project, in Nevada, marking the completion of the National Environmental Policy Act's federal permitting process for the openpit heap leach mine.
With the RoD having been issued, Equinox is permitted to start with early works construction at South Railroad while applications for key State permits and water rights have been submitted.
The incremental production from the South Railroad project from 2028 will support the group's aim to add 800000 oz/y gold output out of its organic development pipeline.
South Railroad is expected to produce about 130000 oz/y of gold over its first five years of operation before scaling down to 100000 oz/y over the remainder of its ten-year mine life.
Initial capital costs have been estimated at $395-million, with the project being based within a larger 25000 ha land package along Nevada's prolific Carlin Trend - which provides opportunities for resource growth and new discoveries.
