Newmont appoints acknowledged finance veteran to board
Global gold miner Newmont Corporation has appointed Peter Beaven to serve on the audit committee of its board.
Beaven previously worked as group CFO at another global mining company, BHP, from 2015 to 2021 where he oversaw BHP's global finance function - including strategy, mergers and acquisitions, capital allocation, risk management and investor relations.
He has also held various senior operational and executive roles in the copper, manganese and carbon steel sectors, including as nonexecutive chairperson of the International Copper Association.
Newmont chairperson Greg Boyce says Beaven is an acknowledged extractive industry leader with his experience across large-scale resource businesses poised to build on the deep and diverse expertise of the current Newmont board.
"His financial and strategic expertise will be valuable as Newmont continues to focus on disciplined portfolio management, operational performance and long-term, sustainable value creation," adds Newmont CEO Natascha Viljoen.
